Summary Raza Rabbani said that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was not being devolved.
The Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination said that legislation of higher education was necessary after the 18th Amendment. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Rabbani said that the HEC was established under an ordinance issued in 2002 and it was now a constitutional requirement, after the transfer of the Education Ministry to the provinces, to form a Commission for Standard Education to replace the HEC. He said that some elements were against provincial autonomy and that’s why they were spreading propaganda. He explained that neither scholarships nor funds for higher education would be halted.
