FIA submits interim report in NATO containers case in SC

Summary The FIA has presented an interim report of NATO containers case in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Dunya News broke the NATO containers scandal, after which, it was exposed in a report that duties of worth Rs 7 billion were embezzled at Chaman border. Pakistan has sought a record from the Afghan government in this regard.A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the NATO containers case. The CJP asked FBR chairman Salman Siddique that how many containers were not reached Afghanistan. The chairman told the court that the Afghan government had been approached to get the record of the containers but they had provided record of only Chaman border.According to that record, 2,981 containers were missing at Chaman border during last three years and the Pakistan government suffered a loss of Rs 7 billion. He told the court that notices were being sent on every transaction of NATO containers. The case has been adjourned for four weeks.
