PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KP CSW) on Wednesday has announced a five year policy to stop violence and oppression against women.
On a 16-day special campaign against violence in Peshawar, the commission demanded the establishment of a separate department.
The commission also devised strategy to work on issues related to underage marriages, divorce laws in the Christian community and women trafficking.
Women Commission chairman Neelum Toro demanded a separate department should be established for welfare of women and violence against women.
On the other hand, women present at ceremony suggested that those who are running such campaigns for women empowerment at lower level should also be included in such ceremonies.
However, Senator Mahertaj Roghani expressed disappointment over the absence of male MPs despite invitation.
Different tableaus were presented at event to highlight gender based violence which was attended by teachers, students, lawyers and female MPAs.
