Vice chancellors oppose devolution of HEC

Summary Imtiaz Hussain Gilani said that he was not afraid of the Higher Education Commission's devolution.

The Vice Chancellors Action Committee chairman said that the government should not take decisions in haste to avoid consequences in the future. A meeting of vice chancellors of public and private universities was held in Islamabad to discuss the issue of devolution of the HEC to the provinces. Talking to the media after the meeting, Imtiaz Gilani said that they were not against the 18th Amendment but the question was that how the provinces would handle the affairs of the HEC with minimum resources. He said that a letter would be written to the president and the prime minister about their reservations over devolution of the HEC.
