Summary Apex court had disqualified PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz for five years in contempt of court case
LAHORE (Dunya news) – Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected plea of Talal Chaudhry’s counsel seeking to postpone the hearing for the third time and directed him to present arguments on July 11.
A three-member bench was conducting hearing of contempt of court case against the former minister during which his lawyer told the court that he was unable to contact Talal Chaudhry.
The lawyer requested the court that the witness wasn’t available so the case should be postponed till elections however, the court rejected his plea.
In today’s hearing, the process of recording the statements of the witnesses was completed.
Earlier, the apex court had disqualified former minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz for five years in contempt of court case.
The former minister was convicted and sentenced under Article 204 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance, 2003 of the constitution. The court ordered him to be “imprisoned” until the hearing adjourned.
The verdict maintained that Daniyal Aziz humiliated the judiciary and judges. It added that he created hurdles in the provision of justice.
