Summary The government has decided to increase electricity tariff in few days.
A notification of two to three percent raise in electricity tariff is expected in a few days. The increase is being made in line with the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund. According to sources, the government is withdrawing subsidy on electricity and various commodities will be raised up to six percent by June. Meanwhile, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Sui Southern Gas Pipelines Limited have submitted an application to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority for increase in the gas prices.
