Summary Chaudhry Sarwar and Haroon Akhtar had denied being nationals of two countries.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – As many as four newly elected senators will appear in Supreme Court (SC) in dual nationality case today (Saturday).
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had taken suo moto notice of the dual nationalities of Chaudhry Sarwar, Haroon Akhtar, Nuzhat Sadiq and Sadia Abbasi and ordered Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to halt their victory notifications.
However, Chaudhry Sarwar and Haroon Akhtar had denied being nationals of two countries.
The development came after Senate elections 2018 which witnessed federally ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) winning majority out of the 52 total senators which were elected.
While offering a clarification on the issue, Chaudhry Sarwar asserted that he had relinquished his British citizenship long ago. He said that he had returned his passport to British Home Department.
