Summary Pakistan and Tajikistan on Tuesday agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Pakistan and Tajikistan signed four MoUs to enhance cooperation in agriculture, food, health and sports sectors. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Tajikistan could be included in Afghan Transit Trade. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon called on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.Talking to the media after the meeting, Prime Minister Gilani and President Rahmon termed their talks as well as agreements extremely productive and future oriented.Gilani said that Pakistan attached high importance to further strengthening its brotherly relations and partnership with Tajikistan.President Rahmon said that Tajikistan would help Pakistan establish a free economic zone. He said that terrorism was a global issue and Pakistan could not tackle the issue alone, adding that Pak-India dialogue should be initiated. He maintained that a feasibility report regarding power supply to Pakistan would be completed at the end of May.
