Summary The Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice on Monday rejected an application seeking early hearing of a petition against Dr Tahir Ali Javed, leader of the Unification Block. The court remarked that the hearing of the case could not be held earlier than its fixed date.
Barrister Muhammad Ehtesham Amiruddin had filed the application, stating that two years were left in the five-year tenure of the government and yet the disqualification case of Tahir Ali Javed had not started. He requested the court to start the hearing of the case. He also said that serious cases were against Javed due to which he did not qualify to become the Punjab Assembly member. The chief justice remarked that there were thousands of cases pending with courts and since there was a shortage of judges, the hearing of the case could not be held earlier than its fixed date.
