Summary Police questioned Mumtaz Qadri, the alleged assassin of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, in the investigation of minority affairs minister Shahbaz Bhattis murder.
The investigation officer of the I-9 police station in Islamabad had filed a petition in an anti-terrorism court, seeking permission to interrogate Mumtaz Qadri in Bhatti’s assassination case. After court’s permission, the police team reached Adiala Jail and recorded the statement of Qadri.According to police, replying a question about the similarity between Taseer and Bhatti’s murder cases, Qadri said that he was unaware of the assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti.
