(Dunya News) – The 10th International Urdu Conference featuring sessions on Urdu language, literature, theatre, drama and film kicked off at the Karachi Arts Council on Thursday.

The five-day conference is being attended by 170 poets, writers and intellectuals from 12 different countries including Pakistan, India and China. The opening day witnessed a high attendance as a galaxy of literary giants including Urdu authors and poets made their way to the conference in Karachi.

The first day featured a full house session in which Zia Mohyeddin recited excerpts from the works of famous Urdu author Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi, known for his satire and humour. Day one ended with performances by famous qawwals – Ayaz Farid and Abu Mohammad.
