Summary Defense Additional Secretary Major General (retired) Haidar said that the Pakistan Army allowed the Pakistan International Airline to resume its flights for Swat. However, owing to lack of arrangements pilots are not flying to Swat, he added.
Senate Standing Committee for Defense Chairman Lieutenant General (r) Javed Ashraf Qazi chaired a committee meeting on Tuesday. Briefing the committee, the additional secretary said that the PIA and the Turkish airline agreement was discarded because the former PIA managing director exceeded his authorities. The committee also summoned the record of the hiring made in the PIA in past three years. The committee expressed its displeasure over the absence of Defense Minister Ahmed Mukhtar in the meeting and decided to report the minster’s absence to the senate chairman.
