ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal mocked PTI Chairman Imran Khan by saying that he will not have a shot at the premiership even if the whole country resigned. He told that PTI leaders in the committee for elections act had presented no amendment in the elections act.
Speaking to a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he called Imran Khan “such Aristotles and Hippocrates that spread despair”, claiming that conspiracies have been staged against the national progress. PTI had demanded resignation of Ahsan Iqbal on "mishandling the Faizabad sit-in".
On PML-N’s energy contribution
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader congratulated the nation on successful inauguration of Port Qasim project. “We have established powerhouses that produce 42% of the energy as compared to those established in the last 70 years,” he added.
He announced that up to 3,000 megawatts of energy will be funneled into the national grid by May, 2018. Ahsan Iqbal told that their government will be successful in contributing 10,000 megawatts in the system in their five-year tenure. He said, “Dictators never bothered to increase the energy production.”
Iqbal on talks with opposition for caretaker PM
Ahsan Iqbal invited opposition for talks to appoint caretaker prime minister. He said they will try to build mutual consent on a person that can be trusted by the whole nation.
He refuted the claims regarding his Iqama (work permit) and told that he never received any salary.
On Faizabad sit-in operation, he stressed that there is a difference between security arrangements for a cricket match as compared to the live coverage of law enforcement strategies. He cleared that the decision of media outage was carried out with PBA’s help.
