Summary Urs celebrations of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, also known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, are in full swing.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The celebrations of the 974th Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA), popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, continued for the second day in Lahore on Thursday with scores of devotees paying their respects and participating in rituals.

The three-day Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri started on Wednesday. Tight security arrangements have been made on the occasion. Millions of devotees from different parts of the country have reached the shrine of Data Sahib to witness the Urs and offer special prayers.

Hundreds of sabeels have been set up all around the shrine and stalls have been arranged to distribute Langar as per the tradition among the devotees during the Urs, which will continue for three days.

Data Ganj Bakhsh was a Persian sufi and scholar during the 11th century. He was born in Ghazni, Afghanistan (990 AD) during the Ghaznavid Empire and settled and died in Lahore spreading Islam in South Asia.
