Summary Electricity load shedding in Multan and Southern Punjab goes up to 8 hours which has severely hampered urban life, domestic, commercial and industrial activities.
According to Multan Electric Power Supply Company (MEPCO), there is a 500 Megawatt shortfall in the Multan region because of which there is 6-7 hours of load shedding in the urban areas and 8-10 hours of load shedding in the rural areas.Due to the long load shedding hours the domestic and commercial sectors including the power looms sector have been severely affected. On the other hand, the traders and industrialists in southern Punjab have threatened with a shutter down protest if the electricity situation doesn’t improve.
