LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – At least 82 shopkeepers were arrested for demanding extra price of tomatoes from the customers in Lahore.

Price Control Magistrates on Sunday raided different markets and detained 82 shopkeepers for selling tomatoes at extremely high prices while they were also fined Rs40,000.

Lahore DC Sameer Ahmed Syed said that the authorities are carefully monitoring tomatoes supply in the metropolis. 

The tomato prices have crossed double century in Peshawar as they are being sold at Rs 250 per kilogram while Karachiites are buying them at Rs200/kg.

The vegetable sellers said that the tomato supply has badly affected due to its wrong cropping while the prices are likely to be decreased in coming week.
