NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday met General Electric vice-president John Rice in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
Prime Minister told Rice that Pakistan is looking forward for more American companies to invest in diverse fields in the country. He maintained that Pakistan is open to investment by foreign companies.
John Rice articulated that Pakistan is a very important market for General Electric and the company is committed to expand its business in Pakistan.
He expressed his desire for investment in locomotives fabrication and health sector system delivery.
Appreciating the long association of the company with Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that his country had been benefitting immensely from its expertise.
The premier reached New York on Monday night to attend 72nd session of the UNGA. He was received at the airport by Pakistan Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi and Pakistan ambassador to the United States Aizaz Chaudhry.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Thursday (Sept 21), in which he would also speak about
Pakistan’s crucial role in its efforts for peace, adverse impact of Climate change on Pakistan and the measures planned to counter the growing threat.
The plight of the civil population in the Indian Occupied Kashmir, the importance of peace in Afghanistan and the oppression against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar are the issues that are likely to be taken up in Prime Minister’s address, told Dr Maleeha Lodhi.
