Summary The Supreme Court has overruled the decision of parliamentary committee for appointment of judges in which the committee denied extensions to four additional judges of the Lahore high court.
A two member SC bench heard the petition filed against the parliamentary committee decision. Makhdoom Ali Khan, the lawyer of petitioners, said that the parliamentary committee could not reject the name without solid grounds.The court dismissed the parliamentary committee’s decision and asked the additional judges, Justice Mehmood Rashid Sheikh, Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi, Justice Muhammad Farrukh khan, Justice Yawar Ali, to continue their duties, until the new verdict.
