Summary PTI's lawyer had filed the plea in an attempt to stop members of Sharif family from leaving country
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected a petition to enter names of the Sharif family in Exit Control List (ECL) on Wednesday in a reserved decision.
The petition was filed by PTI’s lawyer Usman Basra in an attempt to stop members of Sharif family from leaving the country as Supreme Court tasked NAB to file references against them. The plea also wanted to curb their Islamabad to Lahore rally, calling it an ‘act against judiciary’. The petition had asked the court to stop PML-N’s GT Road rally headed Nawaz Sharif and enter names of Nawaz Sharif and his children in ECL.
However, the court, under Justice Amir Farooq, rejected the petition and refused to accept it for further hearing. The court declared PTI’s petition not worth further hearing. Both the petitions, for naming members of Sharif family in ECL and blocking their GT Road show, were rejected on the same causes in a reserved decision.
On the other hand, Ministry of Interior had rejected a similar plea that came from Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
The former prime minister, who was declared ineligible to keep his NA seat under Article 62 1 (f) in Panama case, has left for Lahore in a form of huge convoy on ‘mission Grand Trunk (GT) Road’ after over a week long stay in Murree and Islamabad.
“Against whom you are conducting rally?" asked PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira while PTI Chairman Imran Khan has advised his party workers to stay away from the GT Road rally.
