(Web Desk) - Pakistani filmmaker Jamshed Mahmood Raza, popularly known as Jami, bagged the Open Doors - TorinoFilmLab award this week at an international film festival.

According to their website, the Open Doors - TFL Award aims to develop the winner’s contacts at an international level and to help initiate commercial negotiations on the projects currently being developed.

Locarno Festival is an annual film festival held every August in Switzerland. The 70th edition of the festival that began on August 2 will run till August 12.

This year, the Open Doors Lab is focusing on emerging producers and filmmakers from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, who are active in developing the local independent film scene and wish to build fruitful international collaborations. Open Doors Screenings present a selection of 22 films from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Jami s Moor was also screened last week.

"Well that’s very interesting because I was making the video for someone else," Jami laughed as he received the award wearing black and white shalwar kameez. "Again, thank you so much, and this is very surprising, because I really wanted to be part of the next session somehow, somewhere with these people, so this is very interesting. Thank you so much," Jami was quoted as saying by Dawn.

Jami and Mehnaz Alavi Diwan of Studio Rail Films were selected from Pakistan to be part of Open Doors Lab.
