Summary Will withhold party ticket if Nawaz continues to head PML-N after being convicted, say sources
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) — Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cannot dispense tickets to candidates of any election, sources in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) told.
The source claimed that according to the law, only the head of a party can grant ticket to a candidate for contesting election.
The sources told Dunya News that ECP might consider withholding the issuance of the electoral symbol to PML-N in case Nawaz Sharif continues to head the party.
The tussle over the Panamagate is over after the disqualification of the former PM but the debate on vacated seat of Nawaz Sharif, NA-120, has started.
It is the responsibility of a party head to give out party tickets to the candidates. However, Nawaz is restricted to do so due to his disqualification by the Supreme Court.
