Summary PTI had earlier conditionally agreed to form a commission to probe the funding case: counsel

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar has remarked during hearing of foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday that plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has a lot of issues.

During the hearing conducted by the three-member bench, the CJP said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) could determine facts regarding foreign funding and asked the counsel for the petitioner what evidence there was that could prove that PTI used unlawful funds.

Akram Sheikh, counsel for Hanif Abbasi said that PTI has objected to jurisdiction of the election commission and that the party has confessed to foreign funding earlier.

It was observed by the party that funds were collected from foreign means but were not transferred to Pakistan, he said adding that funds from multinational companies were collected as well.

Sheikh claimed that PTI had earlier conditionally agreed to form a commission to probe the funding case.

The chief justice asked that where the uncontroversial documents about foreign funding of PTI were at which would allow the bench to term the funding illegal.

Counsel for the petitioner said that the person responsible for filing bogus certificate could not be ‘sadiq and ameen’.
