ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz reached Federal Judicial Academy on Wednesday to appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that is probing the offshore assets of Sharif family amidst protocol that has created another debate on social media challenging Maryam’s designation to enjoy such privilege.
When Maryam Nawaz reached Federal Judicial Academy, SSP Arsala Saleem saluted her and accompanied her to the investigation room. This act of SSP has been widely criticized by the politicians, media personnel and civil society, as Maryam Nawaz holds no official post.

Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza said she was taken from court to jail without lady police. "kiya main kisi ki Beti nahi thee Mian sahib,” she asked while writing “shame shame shame.”

On the other hand, people and other media persons also criticized the act of lady police officer who saluted Maryam Nawaz.

Maryam Nawaz was accompanied by her brothers Hussain and Hassan Nawaz, husband Captain Safdar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Asif Kirmani and her son-in-law Raheel Muneer.
Stringent security measures had been taken in the Federal Capital to avert any untoward incident by deploying over 3,000 security officials. Entry of irrelevant people is prohibited within one kilometer radius of the Federal Judicial Academy.
On the other hand, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has clarified that official protocol was not given to Maryam Nawaz during her visit to the judicial academy.
Reacting to the tweet of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, she said Maryam Nawaz reached the site on the private vehicles of the family.
The Minister said Imran Khan should explain as under which capacity he uses the helicopter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. He said Imran Khan should also explain as to why he is escaping the courts.
