Summary A US paper claimed that America has threatened Pakistan that it will abandon diplomatic relations with the country, if Pakistan does not release US citizen Raymond Davis, a dual killing accused.
However, the Foreign Office and ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani have declined the claim.According to the paper, if Raymond is not released, Pakistani embassy in Washington will be closed and its ambassador will be sent back. Pakistani president’s US visit will also be cancelled, the paper reported. Sources in the Foreign Office said that the US paper’s claim was baseless and the officials of both countries would carry out their scheduled tours and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will also visit Washington on 21 February. Ambassador Haqqani told Dunya News that no such threat was given by the US government.
