The Jaranwala Sadar Police arrested a 38 year old Teera Daata who was being married to a 10 year old Maria. The neighbors reported the incident to the police and they arrived at the scene just in time to stop the matrimony. The police arrested the groom along with the eyewitnesses as the guests managed to escape.The police shifted the girl and the family members to an undisclosed location. The police also arrested a close family relative Anwar Muhammad who planned the wedding of Teera Daata 38 with Maria. According to the bride, the wedding was taking place on an eye for an eye statute.The eyewitness said that the bride had covered herself with a traditional wedding cloth which is why they couldn’t determine her age.
