Summary Throughout the country, workers of the national airlines PIA continued their protests. The protest has been going on for 3 days and commuters face difficulty getting tickets of other airlines. During the 3 day protest more than 75 national and international flights have been cancelled. On the other hand the government has decided to remove PIA MD Ijaz Haroon from his post and a resignation has been acquired. The decision was taken in high profile meeting in Islamabad.
All domestic flights at the Jinnah airport in Karachi were cancelled till 6pm including 4 international flights. The protestors are protesting in front of the domestic departure gate.The availability of tickets on other airlines is difficult but those commuters who manage to get a ticket are being sold at an exceptional higher price. More than 75 flights have been affected. The flights from Lahore airport have been delayed and the MD PIA has apologized to the commuters for the inconvenience.The protests in Karachi have affected 33 domestic flights and 25 international flights. A collective of 6700 commuters were not able to reach their destinations.Due to the protests, the visa’s of people leaving for the UAE and UK have expired which has complicated the situation even more.On the other hand, the flights coming in from Turbat and Multan to Quetta have also been delayed. 3 flights have also been delayed from Peshawar and airport authorities say that 2 of them were international flights going to Dubai and Doha. The flight from Chitral to Peshawar has also been delayed.
