PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak has spent Rs16.13 billion discretionary funds in three years despite Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s clear instructions to not dole out the reserves.
According to the documents obtained by Dunya News, the funds were released in four separate categories from 2013 to 2016 under CM’s directives for all districts of the province, but were mostly spent in Nowshera district, CM’s own constituency.
The documents revealed that Pervez Khattak spent Rs4.80 billion discretionary funds from 2015-16 budget, Rs4.85 billion from 2014-15 budget, and Rs5.47 billion from 2013-14 budget.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Muzafar Syed said Pervez Khattak is the chief executive of the province, and has right to use discretionary funds. On the other hand, CM Pervez Khattak suspended finance secretary when he refused to grant more funds.
