Ruckus in Punjab Assembly: Opposition demands PM’s resignation

Summary Opposition raised slogans and staged walkout for not being allowed to present resolution against PM

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Ruckus was observed in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday as the opposition demanded Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s resignation and also staged a walkout over not being allowed to present resolution against PM, reported Dunya News.

The session started under the headship of Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal two hours late. Bills regarding sale of tobacco on designated shops only, sale of books in private institutions and setting the minimum age limit for marriage at 18 years were presented.

However, Opposition started raising slogans over not being allowed to present the resolution against PM and staged a walkout from the assembly pointing at the lack of quorum. Afterwards, the bill about the marriage age was rejected while the other two bills were sent to the relevant committees for recommendations.

The session ended in an environment of tension. On the other hand, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah took the opponents head on after the session while talking to the media. The members of the assembly will meet each other again on Wednesday 10 am.
