LAHORE (Dunya News) – Analyst on programme, ‘Khabar Yeh Hai’, Haroon Rasheed has claimed on Friday that the government is seeking pardon from the military after ‘crime’ on its part has been proved in probe of Dawn Leaks.
While talking about the issue on the programme, Rasheed asserted that investigators have informed him that the government is seeking pardon as ‘crime’ has been proved in the probe for which a committee was formed.
Commenting on the development, he claimed that it is likely that the military pardons the government.
People who were tasked with investigating the leak are responsible persons who work for the government.
Last year in October, Cyril Almeida of an English daily, Dawn published a report claiming of a confrontation between the military and the government in meeting of National Security Committee (NSC) which was attended by the Prime Minister (PM) as well as by then Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General (r) Raheel Sharif.
In the days that followed, a committee was setup by the government and it was assured that a probe would be conducted to identify those responsible for publishing of the ‘fake news.’
The government had denied any truth to the report at least thrice.
However, then Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rashid was removed from the position and it was claimed that the action was taken until the probe concludes.
In meeting of the Corps Commanders in General Headquarters (GHQ) days after the incident, General (r) Sharif condemned publishing of alleged baseless report.
