ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) has stated on Friday that Federal Minister for Finance, Ishaq Dar’s ‘confession’ in Hudaibiya Paper Mills corruption reference is not a mere piece of paper.

Justice Asif Khosa remarked during hearing of Panama Leaks case today that statement of the minister held more importance than being merely a piece of paper. The Supreme Court has ordered National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit record of Hudaibiya Paper Mills reference.

Justice Khosa said that Dar’s statement is an evidence on which no action has been taken.

Shahid Hamid, counsel for the Minister for Finance said that his client denied his statement which asserted that he was offered a position in government after Musharraf’s coup in exchange for cooperation.

He was made to sign a pre-written statement, Hamid quoted his client’s statement.

However, Justice Khosa said that it is a case involving Rs 1.2 billion and the basis on which Lahore High Court (LHC) did not permit re-investigation was needed to be reviewed.

Ishaq Dar was arrested on October 29, 1999 and was shifted to Attock Jail after January 2000. His  confession  was recorded on April 25, 2000 however, he was kept in detention until September that year.

On the other hand, the five-member larger bench of the top court ordered counsels of the Prime Minister (PM) in Panama Leaks case to file details of inheritance and will of Mian Sharif until Monday.
