Summary Nawaz Sharif took notice of federal governments' decision to end fertilizer subsidy for farmers
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif announced good news for farmers on Friday. The premier ordered to retain fertilizer subsidy following request by Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif reported Dunya News.
The concerned departments have been issued an order to restore the subsidy on fertilizers. He said that agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan and our fellow farmers are a major part of the country s economy.
It must be noted that earlier, Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif requested PM Nawaz to retain fertilizer subsidy. The request came following federal government’s decision to omit subsidy.
Shehbaz Sharif requests PM to restore subsidy on fertilizers
The decision was not welcomed by opposition parties, especially Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PPP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). PTI had gone as far as to give a 72 hour ultimatum to government, demanding it to restore subsidy and benefit farmers.
