Summary Liberal activists Waqas Goraya, Asim, Salman Haider and Ahmed Raza have gone missing in January
ISLAMABAD: (Daily Dunya) – Liberal activists Salman Haider, Ahmad Waqas Goraya, Asim Saeed and Ahmad Raza Naseer have gone missing during the last one week and all without a trace. The security agencies have however denied any kind of involvement in their disappearance, reported Daily Dunya.
According to details, Ahmad Waqas Goraya and Asim Saeed had gone missing on January 4, Fatima Jinnah University Professor Salman Haider disappeared on January 6 while Ahmad Raza Naseer on January 7.
NGOs related to cyber security and the relatives of these missing persons have said that these people were active on social media and their opinions leaned clearly towards secularism, leftism and revolution. However, the security agencies have denied their involvement in the disappearances.
Interior Ministry has said that the investigations regarding Salman Haider’s disappearance are going on. However, the ministry didn’t mention any of the other people who have gone missing.
Salman has continuously raised voice for the missing persons in Balochistan through blogs and his writings in a national English daily.
All the four people were known for their comments regarding conservatism of Pakistan and the army’s role in politics. However, security agencies deny involvement in their disappearance. One of the missing people Ahmad Waqas Goraya is also a citizen of Holland.
