ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said on Monday that extension in tenure of military courts would be decided after deliberation with parliamentary parties.
The premier chaired a meeting over foreign affairs which witnessed discussion over interior and regional security.

The participants reviewed progress under anti-terrorism operations and vowed to maintain zero tolerance policy of the state against terrorism. The meeting agreed that military courts played an important role in war on terror and converged positive outcomes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb towards national interests.
The premier said that the federation had begun contemplating extension in tenure of army courts while the term would be fixed after consensus of all parliamentary parties.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Adviser National Security Nasir Janjua and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi.
Army courts were established for speedy trials of terrorists after an attack on a school in Peshawar claimed at least 140 lives, mostly students in December 2014.
Constitution of Pakistan was amended for the purpose in 2015 after all parliamentary parties agreed to try terrorists through military courts.
