ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will take oath as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) today (Saturday). He will replace Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali who retired on Friday, Dunya News reported.
President Mamnoon Hussain will administer the oath to him at a ceremony in Islamabad.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will become the 25th Chief Justice of Pakistan and will remain in office for two years and 17 days. He will retire on January 17, 2019.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was born on Lahore on January 18, 1954. He did his matriculation from the Cathedral High School, Lahore, graduation from the Government College, Lahore, and bachelor of law from the University of Punjab.
He joined legal profession as an advocate in 1980. He was enrolled as an advocate of the High Court in 1982 and as advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1994. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was elevated as the Judge of the Lahore High Court on May 22, 1998 and of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on February 18, 2010.
