Arshad Khan  Chaiwala

A candid photo of a random local tea seller in Islamabad was just about enough to land him in the glamour world. Whether it was his dashing looks or  hot-tea  that got everyone s attention to an extent that Arshad Khan has being cast for a movie. The  Chaiwala  got international attention with news media from India, America and the Middle East and all over the world.

Meanwhile, he ranked among the Sexiest Men of 2016 in a poll.

Misbah s push-ups gig

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq got all pumped up after scoring his maiden Test century outside Asia against England at Lord’s. Pakistan went on to win the all-important match and the moment became altogether memorable when the whole team decided to do 10 push-ups after the victory.

Though the move was not entirely welcomed by some people yet it was highly appreciated by cricket fans in the country.


Taher Shah sings  Angel 

The internet was blown away by the song  Angel  by one and only Taher Shah. The social media sensation had earlier reached the peak of his career by debut song  Eye to Eye  during three years ago but this time, it was much more than that. Internet trolls couldn t stop discussing the song all over and the world.

Taher Shah earned record hits on YouTube for his song. It was recently announced that the artist left Pakistan following death threats.


PTI wanted Doraemon banned

In 2016, Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) submitted a resolution in Punjab Assembly to ban the Japanese cartoons Doraemon. Though the move was to block Indian culture  because these cartoons were mostly dubbed in Hindi language , the decision sparked hilarious controversy on social media as people started to make fun of the party s decision.

Not only that #PTIvsDoraemon became a top trend on Twitter in Pakistan but numerous politicians from the ruling party also noticed the funny side of the move.

Namak Haram Country (India)

Pakistanis were thrilled when they found out that when somebody searches  Namak Haram Country  on Google, the Indian flag appears. It was treated as a laughing stock by people and even in India, they had a strange feeling why this was happening.

The actual reason was that a Bollywood movie titled  Namak Haram  starring Amitabh Bachan existed in Google searches which made the Indian flag appear upon searching Namak Haram Country. No doubt, the Pakistanis thought otherwise.

Trans model makes debut

Kami Sid who is actually a social worker appeared as the first transgender model in Pakistan. Kami appeared in a stunning photo shot which amazed everyone. She broke all stereotypes of Pakistan s traditionally conservative society.

The model desires to end all kinds of phobia in the closed mind frame of people which is currently causing violence against the transgender community in the country.

Sheikh Rasheed s great escape

In hope to join the protest against government in Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed claims that he had threats from the ruling party which made him escape to the streets of his hometown. The video of his  grand escape  earned millions of views of Facebook and Twitter.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed was not only appreciated for his courage but also rated ahead of PTI’s show in Islamabad in which the its leaders were trapped in Bani Gala. But then, the internet trolls didn’t leave any stone unturned to make fun of the veteran politician as well.

Momina Mustehsan goes popular

The Pakistan-born singer gave an appearance in Coke Studio for her debut song with the one and only Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. What s more important than her singing “Afreen Afreen” was that her looks heavily impressed the social media.

People started following the pretty girl on Instagram, Twitter and where not. Her old photographs started coming to limelight and she was being discussed everywhere.

Qandeel Baloch s rise to fame and the tragic death

The model-turned-actress rose to fame when her Facebook videos and Instagram photos came to the limelight. Qandeel was loved and hated at the same time by different factions of the society. Her boldness may have impressed a lot of her fans but some people weren t that happy with her ways in the closed setup of Pakistan.

Even Mufti Qavi tried to bring the girl on the  right path  but that didn t go too well. It is said that the same internet sensation that got everyone talking about her resulted in her murder.

She too became a victim of the honour-killing, which is amongst the most terrifying sides of Pakistani culture. Her brother choked her to death and that was it for the passionate young model.


Jeena kay “maa, baap nahi hain”

The last episode of Mann Mayal, which was among the most watched TV serials of 2016, got everyone talking as a character Jeena played by Aisha Khan earned sympathies in the show for being an orphan. Or did she? In fact internet fanatics saw the lighter side of her dialogue “Mere maa tou baap bhi nahi hain”.
