Summary Malik had won the election with a margin of one vote

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has annulled victory of Sumaira Malik in local government elections as Chairperson District Council of Khushab over losing candidate’s plea.

Losing candidate, Amir Haider Sanga appealed to the commission objecting to the elections results and demanded re-election.

The plea stated that five votes that were cast in favour of Malik were shown openly after pasting the stamps and the act was a violation of ECP’s rules.

However, counsel for Malik in the case maintained that the voters were having the stamps get dried and it was not an act of bravado.

The commission did not entertain Malik’s stance and ordered re-election for the chairperson of district council.

Malik had won the election with a margin of one vote.
