Summary Suspending Jamshed Dasti's acquittal decision by LHC, SC issued notice to Dasti for response

LAHORE, MUZAFFARGARH: (Daily Dunya) – Supreme Court (SC) has on Monday suspended the decision by Lahore High Court (LHC) acquitting MNA from Muzaffargarh Jamshed Dasti in fake degree case. Suspending the verdict on interim basis, SC has issued notice to Dasti for response, reported Dunya News.

SC’s 3-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in Lahore registry heard the appeal filed by prosecution.

Additional Prosecutor General Mazhar Sher Awaan told the bench that the trial court had sentenced Jamshed Dasti to jail and fined him as well in the same case in light of strong evidence but LHC acquitted Dasti despite it being on record that his degree was fake and this is exactly why he had been disqualified  from contesting election.
