TOBA TEK SINGH (Dunya News) – The death toll from drinking toxic liquor in Mubarakabad area of Toba Tek Singh has reached 20 as eight more people died in various hospitals on Monday night, Dunya News reported.
Condition of dozens of people deteriorated in Mubarakabad area of Toba Tek Singh on Monday after consuming poisonous liquor. The affectees were brought to District Headquarters Hospital Toba Tek Singh and Allied Hospital where 20 people were killed. Several other are still under treatment.
Locals have said that selling of raw liquor is common in the area while police are not taking required action. Wife of one of the affectees revealed that those dealing in toxic liquors are giving extortion money to the police.
DSP Saddar Atif Imran Qureshi while talking to media said that the liquor had been sold owing to the permit given to the dealers.
