Summary Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources met on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) - Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources was informed that IPPs don’t conduct their audits despite having most of quota for furnace oil.

Israrullah Khan Zehri chaired the session of parliamentary panel.

Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani told panel that Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is among companies involved in smuggling of petrol and diesel.

He further said that companies are mixing kerosene oil (KO) in petrol and high speed diesel (HSD) to maximise their profits.

The government is introducing marker chemical in bid to stop adulteration practice, said Secretary Arshad Mirza.

He narrated that this practice has become rampant and influential people are involved in this illicit trade.

Upon this, chairman of the committee alleged that the government is promoting corruption instead of curbing it.

The committee snubbed PSO and OGRA officials over smuggling of petroleum products.
