KARACHI (Dunya News) – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has held Chairman of Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Managing Director (MD), Board of Governors among others responsible for non-transparent purchase of five Boeing-777 aircrafts.
FIA has filed a report after completing a probe that was initiated in 2012 over complaint of deputy secretary of the cabinet division.
According to the report, order of five aircrafts was made without deliberating over financial status of the national airline which is why installments were not paid.
The agency has termed the failed purchase a hasty and unprepared decision.
The report has surfaced weeks after Chairman of the national airline resigned after PK-661 flight from Chitral to Islamabad crashed near Havelian after an alleged failure of left engine.
All 48 persons onboard were killed in the crash.
