LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday has sought reply from federal government over not including transgenders in population census.
The hearing of the case was held by Chief Justice LHC Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.
The petitioner’s lawyer Advocate Shiraz Zaka adopted stance that the government has decided to conduct population census in March next year however; transgender community is not being included in the process.
He said that this move is against the constitution therefore; the court should direct the government to include transgenders in the population census process.
The court after reviewing the plea has summoned reply from federal government on January 9.
