Summary Mysterious disease being spread by the sting of a mosquito becomes endemic in Malir
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Hundreds including seventy doctors and paramedical staff have caught a mysterious disease spreading from mosquitoes. The disease has become and endemic in Malir area, reported Dunya News.
The disease crippling the joints of hands and feet is prevalent in Malir district and hundreds of patients are reporting daily in government and private hospitals.
Health EDO Karachi visited Sindh Government Hospital in Saudabad where large number of patients is under treatment. Dr Abdul Waheed said that the disease was being examined closely and a team of doctors had also been formulated for this purpose.
Officially, the disease hasn’t been diagnosed as yet but the experts believe it could be Chikungunya virus, considering the symptoms. Over seventy doctors and paramedical staff have also been diagnosed with the same disease.
The medical experts say that this disease causes high fever in the beginning and severe pain in the joints, disabling them for three days.
Doctors say that the disease spreads with mosquito bite so all measures should be taken to keep safe from mosquitoes.
