Summary Higher judiciary's 150-year celebrations come to end; CJP pays rich tribute to LHC’s performance

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali has on Saturday paid rich tribute to Lahore High Court (LHC) saying that it was performing better than the other courts, reported Dunya News.

LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the doctrine of the superiority of law must be implemented on the judicial community first.

Addressing the ceremony of LHC’s 150-year celebrations, CJP said that it was the responsibility of the courts to live up to the expectations of the people at a time when all the other institutions fail to perform.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said on the occasion that personalities are important but not more than the institutions. He said that codes of conduct were necessary and values were vital for the improvement of the system. “Accountability is must and cannot be sacrificed for anything”, he said.

Chief Justice designate Saqib Nisar and others also addressed the ceremony and appreciated Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s performance.
