Summary General Raheel Sharif’s retirement is scheduled on November 29

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has convened separate meetings with freshly appointed Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Zubair Mehmood Hayat.

Spokesperson for the Prime Minister House reported that the premier congratulated both the fresh appointees and expressed confidence in the two.

Earlier today, Qamar Javed Bajwa was appointed the new COAS by the Prime Minister out of five names that were under consideration over seniority.

A formal announcement was made after Nawaz Sharif returned today from his two-day visit to Turkmenistan. Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif’s retirement is scheduled on November 29.

The Prime Minister also called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the President House to take him in confidence over the appointments.

The meeting came in after Nawaz Sharif returned from Turkmenistan concluding his two-day visit. The premier also briefed President Mamnoon Hussain over his visit.
