ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Sanding Committee on Interior has conditionally approved the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2016, reported Dunya News.

The punishment for officers found guilty of being negligent, has been extended from 3 to 6 months.
During the meeting, senators from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Muttahida Qaumi Movement suggested that a penalty of up to Rs. 50,000 be imposed on those found guilty.
However, Senator Rehman Malik suggested the fine be raised to Rs. 500,000.
Rehman Malik also expressed that the law should also be applicable to civil servants as well as police and intelligence agencies.
The standing committee also agreed to oversee the formation of a bill outlawing physical punishment on children.
