ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director (MD) Christine Lagarde on Tuesday said that economic progress of country was impossible without curbing corruption as the menace would lower youth’s morale and also prove detrimental to foreign investors’ trust in a country, reported Dunya News.

Holding a joint press conference along with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Lagarde said that reforms to curb corruption were vital. She said that transparency, better use of technology and improved system of retribution could help fighting corruption.

Talking on the occasion, Ishaq Dar said that legislation to curb corruption was being introduced and the bill was already presented in National Assembly. He added that the bill would be presented in Senate as soon as it got approved from National Assembly. “Moreover, Prime Minister has also announced transparent investigations into Panama Leaks issue”, he said.

Finance Minister also said that Pakistan became a member of Organisation of Economic Cooperation to end corruption and tax-evasion and became a part of 103 world countries.
