Bomb blast kills child, injures 20 in Karachi's Liaquatabad

Summary Police have suspected the blast to be a grenade attack

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Grenade blast in Liaquatabad FC Area has claimed a childs life and injured 20 on Monday, the same day when exclusive policing powers of Rangers were extended for 90 days to operate in Sindh.

Sources privy to the police have reported that it was a grenade blast while injured three children and four women among 20 who were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital has reported that conditions of three of the wounded are critical.

Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah has ordered authorities to file a report in the matter while he condemned the terror attack. Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Sindh Police, Mushtaq Mehr has visited the blast site and inspected the situation to launch required probe.

Pakistan has been battling terror attack for years whilst indiscriminate operations against all banned outfits are being carried out across the country by all the law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, army has restored peace in North Waziristan after decimating hundreds of terror hideouts and killing over 3,500 of militants belonging to different terror organisations.

However, Operation Zarb-e-Azb is carrying on in the tribal areas which by now has entered its final phase.
