Summary Opposition members locked doors of assembly hall, raised slogans against 'unconstitutional' budget

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Peshawar district’s annual budget worth Rs 10.38 billion was approved in the district assembly’s session held on Friday despite the Opposition members  vehement protest, reported Dunya News.

Opposition members also locked the assembly hall and raised slogans while standing outside the building before the session initiated. Certain members belonging to Opposition parties termed the budget as unconstitutional and illegal after Peshawar District Coordinator (DC) expressed his reservations upon the budget.

Members belonging to the provincial government broke the locks placed on the assembly hall’s door and approved the budget in the absence of the Opposition members. The budget was approved through the show of hands procedure.

While conversing with Dunya News, District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan stated that he was deeply saddened over the Opposition’s behaviour.

Opposition members announced that they shall head to the court regarding the matter despite the approval of the budget in the district assembly.
