Summary John Kirby said US encourages all sides to make efforts to resolve Kashmir issue
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - US State Department spokesperson John Kirby voiced concerns over the use of pellet guns by the Indian security forces against Kashmiri protesters in the India-held Kashmir, Dunya News reported.
While briefing the newsmen in Washington on Friday, John Kirby said that we are concerned by the violence in Kashmir and added that US encourages all sides to make efforts towards finding a peaceful solution to this. He said that Kashmir issue can only be resolved through dialogue.
Answering a question regarding human rights violations in India, John Kirby said that the US is obviously concerned by reports of rising intolerance and violence against minorities in India. He further said that we are in close touch with our Indian counterparts in New Delhi and urge the government to do everything in its power to protect minorities.
Answering yet another question, John Kirby said that US has encouraged and we will continue to strongly encourage the Government of Pakistan to treat Afghan migrants in accordance with international humanitarian principles. US also recognizes Pakistan’s genuine concerns and its right to undertaken appropriate measures to enforce its immigration laws, he said.
