Summary Pakistani embassy staff in Istanbul should look after Pakistani nationals present in city: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed authorities to take measures to ensure the safe return of Pakistani nationals stranded in Istanbul, reported Dunya News.

PM directed that exclusive flights be arranged for the return of Pakistani citizens who were stuck in the Turkish city of Istanbul following an unsuccessful coup attempt in the country overnight.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif instructed the Ministry for Foreign Affairs that the Pakistani embassy staff present in Istanbul should look after the Pakistanis present in the city and to make sure that they return to the country safe and sound.

According to a representative of the Pakistani High Commission in Turkey, around 200 Pakistani nationals were stuck at the Istanbul airport. The representative stated that two flights shall be heading from Istanbul to Karachi and Islamabad, tonight (Satuday) at 10pm Pakistan Standard Time.

Pakistani High Commission representative Abdul Akbar said that the Pakistani nationals can reschedule their ticket from the Turkish Airlines  counter present at the airport.
